Inspired by spiderwebs and bubbles, Cloud City by Tomas Saraceno has transformed the German Hamburger Bahnhof railway station into a world of fantasy and dreams. Now a museum, the former station is the house of this art installation, which is composed of 20 large balloons suspended in the air by a massive network of cables.
The transparent color of the bubbles enhances the piece by giving it dream-like effect. Visitors are welcomed to enter inside the bubbles and bounce in order to experience reality from a bubbly perspective. From the inside, the cables and connections give it a kaleidoscopic feel, which make the piece incredibly beautiful and surreal.
Cloud City by Tomas Saraceno creates a world that questions gravity and space; additionally, it gives visitors a realistic chance to walk in the clouds.
The installation will be at the Hamburger Bahnhof Museum from September to January 15, 2012.
