If you were following the Chipotle Twitter page on the 21st of July, you would have noticed some strange activity on its feed. The unusual tweets sent out made it seem that the main Chipotle Twitter account 'ChipotleTweets' was hacked.
Tweets included strange messages like "Mittens13 password leave" and "end twitter," making it seem as if someone who had never used the social sharing site before had gotten a hold of the account.
However, this was a cleverly executed promotional campaign for Chipotle's 20th anniversary, initiating a scavenger hunt for a "puzzle about the ingredients Chipotle uses to make guacamole." The hoax was entirely planned-out and since the tweets on the Chipotle Twitter page were so out of the norm, it was quite effective at generating attention.
