For Ilham Anas of Indonesia, looking like Barack Obama has made him an instant celebrity. Previously a photographer, Ilhan now stars in Obama look-a-like commercials on Indonesian TV, and has become a local celebrity.

Obama is a popular figure in Indonesia, as he lived there for four years, after his American mother remarried Indonesian Lolo Soetoro.

Anas, aged 34, who resembles Barack Obama, shot to fame in Indonesia after Obama won the election, and is now making a career as an Obama double, “I never thought I would be a star in a commercial, then this happened. It’s very fortunate.”

Initially his friends took photos of him dressed in a suit and tie, the photos spread on the internet, “Then TV stations and an advertising agency got in touch with me,” which led to his role as Obama in a Philippines pharmaceutical advertisement.
