From Political SNL Parodies to Star-Studded Video Gags
Jennifer Gosnell — August 21, 2012 — Pop Culture
These Saturday Night Live hilarities cover a wide array of topics from SNL from the last few years. Perhaps the biggest, most viral and most influential SNL parody over the past few years has been Tina Fey's Sarah Palin sketch where she covered Palin through the 2008 Republican bid for Vice Presidency alongside Presidential candidate John McCain.
SNL has been a political commentator, sports spectator and humorous gag show. Featuring a relevant artist or personality every week, the show has stayed relatively relevant through its use of current, up to date pop culture references.
The 'Weekend Update with Seth Meyers' segment of the show (which happens to be my favorite) focuses on current going-ons and updates viewers on some legitimate and some quite ridiculous world news.
