Inspired by pandemic baking, Sara Robinson, who works on AI for Google Cloud, started working with artificial intelligence to create inventive new recipes like the Cakie—an original 50% cake, 50% cookie hybrid. The recipe calls for a few simple ingredients like sugar, butter, flour and an egg, plus a few others, but it's the way that the ingredients are measured and combined that creates the unique taste and texture. According to Robinson, "It is yummy. And it strangely tastes like what I’d imagine would happen if I told a machine to make a cake cookie hybrid."
The project is continually being improved with bigger sets of data, tools and models to provide insight into what makes a cookie a cookie, a cake a cake and what makes breads breads.
As part of the project, a new hybrid recipe for a "breakie" (a bread-cookie) was also created.
