The Brazil Pavilion was seen at this year's Venice Architecture Biennale led by curators Gabriela de Matos and Paulo Taveres. The duo chose to highlight the theme of Earth and aptly dubbed the exhibition 'Terra.' The goal of the exhibition is to hopefully show how the land of Brazil has shaped the concept of heritage and identity as a whole. The floors are covered with earth and a series of plinths are seen on display.
De Matos and Taveres speak to design about the design, explaining that "The significance of land and earth is deeply rooted in the conception and narratives of the national formation and representation of Brazil. It encompasses the idealized and racialized vision of 'tropical nature' that has shaped the portrayal of Brazil's national identity. [...] In this context, earth represents an ancestral connection that goes beyond the borders of Brazil, leading us to explore cultural geographies and alternative perspectives on belonging, cultivation, rights, and reparation."
