Buoy Beer Company, based in Astoria, Oregon, has launched the fifth generation iteration of 'Love, Lost at Sea,' a marvelously complex and unabashedly strong barrel-aged barleywine that owes its phenomenally brash character to the fact that it happened to spend 10 months aging in Freeland Spirits bourbon barrels.
Released on Valentine's Day 2022, the 'Love, Lost at Sea 2022' barleywine has a malt-forward flavor profile that is supported by the use of Chocolate, British Crystal and British pale malts, with a hint of bitterness courtesy local Oregon hops.
Available in 500-ml bottles in locations around Oregon and Washington, the 'Love, Lost at Sea 2022' barleywine also offers a visual treat by way of label artwork created by tattoo artist Aaron Toledo, who draws inspiration from subjects as diverse as the eccentricity of people and the beauty and force of the ocean and forest.
