Colorado-based River North Brewery created much excitement among lovers of strong beers when it released the 'Double Avarice' beer as part of its Single Cask collection at the tail-end of 2021, but the brewery has not wasted any time resting on those laurels, and has now rejuvenated 'Double Avarice' in the form of an imperial stout with an ABV of just over 20%.
The 'Barrel-Aged Double Avarice' is an unabashedly strong brew that boasts a silky mouthfeel with delicate aromas of cake and spice, which are fast followed by a complex palate of flavors that range from figs, toffee and prunes to darker caramel qualities.
Considering its ABV of over 20%, it's apparent that this particular imperial stout is designed to be a hugely gratifying slow sipper that is designed to satisfy the tastes of the most adventurous lovers of strong stouts.
