German architecture brand AMUNT introduces a new iteration of a timber holiday cabin known as a Haus am Hang. This directly translates to 'House on the Hill' and it is designed as a family getaway home found in the Black Forest. It has a single roof and two overlapping blocks and a multi-level interior raised along the sloped landscape. Architects Sonja Nagel and Jan Theissen lead the project.
They talk about the home, stating that "The slender roof shell is placed protectively over the two building volumes, which are angled at 45 degrees to the slope. The resulting floor plan organisation appears abstract, but its intention is to enable a variety of relations to the site without coming too close to the neighbouring buildings."
