3AE and Les Archinautes Join on a New Cabin in Czech Republic

French design practice Les Archinautes works together with local practice 3AE on the special new timber cabin that overlooks Lipno lake right by the border. It is located in the Czech Republic by the borders of Germany and Austria. The new cabin is made with CLT, which is Cross-Laminated Timber and is made to function as a rest stop for those who come by to hike and ski along the mountain ranges nearby.
Speaking about the new design, the practice states that "The morphology of the house stands on several principles of Bohemian Forest architecture: rectangular floor plan, compact shape, orientation along the contour line, creation of a covered porch and more pronounced articulation of the gable."
