Alter Eco Americas Sells Fair Trade Products, Connects Customers and Farmers

If you live in North America and frequent healthfood stores (and grocery stores with organic sections), you may have already come across Alter Eco Americas products. They sell Fair Trade chocolate bars, an assortment of quinoa (from red to rainbow), jasmine rice, unrefined ground cane sugar and organic hearts of palm.

“We are a team of fair trade visionaries and food-loving explorers on a mission to connect you to our farmers and their honest foods," the Alter Eco Americas website says.

Their site is not only informative about their products, but also transparent when it comes to where the products come from and who the farmers are. For example, they share the methods used by the 400 Alter Trade Foundation farmers in the Phillippines who make their cane sugar.

In addition to focusing on sustainability and fair wages for farmers, Alter Eco also has a carbon emissions offset program, making them a triple bottom line company.
