The Adobe Sabbatical Program at San Jose-based software company provides employees with added incentives to remain at the job and in good standing. Once an employee has worked at least 24 hours a week for five years, with no significant infractions on their record, the employee will be eligible to take a 20-day paid break from work.
These 20 days must be taken within the first two years of becoming eligible for the sabbatical, meaning before the end of the 7th year of employment. This is because the sabbatical is available again after 10 years and 15 years of employment, meaning employees can take this time off every five years. Additionally, each period of five years increases the length of the sabbatical by five days, up to a maximum of 30 days.
It is important to note that the 20-day break does not include weekends or paid holidays, meaning the 20-days turn into a full four-week sabbatical. During this time, employees will have no obligation to answer work calls or emails and are paid at their regular full-time rate.
In order to register for the sabbatical once becoming eligible, employees must simply log on to their online portal and navigate to the sabbatical section. On this page, employees are able to view their eligibility and select the period of time that they would like off.
