Google Updates Its Parental Leave to Offer Parents More Time Off Work
Google has recently implemented a range of new policies surrounding parental leave that are designed to help staff expand the amount of time they can take off work. The company announces that all employees that have given birth will receive 24 weeks of parental leave instead of the usual 18. All employees who are parents are also eligible for 18 weeks of leave instead of 12, and any employee can take eight weeks of caregiver’s leave.
In addition, Google will offer its employees a minimum of 20 days vacation instead of 15. This significant change allows fathers and mothers more time to spend with their children during the most critical stages of their development. Instead of the traditional maternity leave, Google’s policy will now allow fathers to take off the same amount of time as mothers to promote a healthy relationship between parents and children.
