Rebecca Byers — January 26, 2012 — Lifestyle
Super bowl XLVI is fast approaching and with it comes the buzz surrounding a huge source of revenue for the colossal sporting events: the commercials. The phenomenon surrounding Super bowl commercials is noteworthy; the sky-high prices of those ad spots, the competition for most hilarious, and of course, the questionable controversy-driven ads. There are always a few Super bowl commercials that don't make the cut for TV, but go on to gain a ton of news coverage and Internet attention, since a "banned" ad almost always goes viral.
Over the years, there have been shock-and-awe successes, like the less discreet 'Megan Fox in a bathtub' spot, but there are also a few forgotten gems, such as the hilarious Simpsons Super Bowl ad. Super bowl XLVI is sure to be a good watch, if only for the commercials.
