These Shoe Brand Collaborations Explore Unique Partnerships

Many large-name designers, athletes, celebrities and even cartoons have participated in creating shoe brand collaborations with names such as Nike, Adidas, Sketchers, Vans and more. This merging of forces to design collaborative footwear is usually done for promotional or endorsement purposes. Ranging from shoes that recall nostalgic childhood memories like Dragon Ball Z to rapper-inspired footwear, these shoes are specially designed to hold designs recalling both ends of the collaborations through creative design, color, style and materials.
For example, high-fashion designer Rick Owens partnered with sandal company Birkenstock to design a pony hair and leather sandal. The shoe resembles the classic Birkenstock silhouette shape, but touches of Rick Owen aesthetics through the dark colors and high-quality materials. Another unique collaboration are the adidas transit payment sneakers available in Germany -- the brand partnered with the German transit system to craft a shoe that also operates as a ticket.
