From Farmer Appreciation Campaigns to Cross-Country Food Giveaways
Laura McQuarrie — October 16, 2014 — Marketing
These hunger awareness campaigns go hand-in-hand with the messages that are being promoted for World Food Day, encouraging people to be mindful of what's on front of them on the table, as well as what ends up in the trash.
This year, a lot of these campaigns are taking to social media in order to increase their reach. Some great examples of this include the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization's #ToastAFarmer campaign, as well as the #WatchHungerStop initiative that's being backed by big names in the fashion and celebrity world like Michael Kors and Halle Berry. In addition to encouraging mindfulness and thankfulness for what you do have, a few of these projects even encourage you to put yourself in the shoes of someone who is not as fortunate.
