From Pixalated Superhero Portraits to Nominal Hero Illustrati
Lacey-Jane Walsh — July 26, 2013 — Pop Culture
In honor of Comic Con, this list is filled with hero-style illustrations, depicting everyone’s favorite superheroes and comic book characters in intriguing new ways. This list includes Picasso-style hero portraits and minimalist mask art.
Many of these fantastic illustrations do a good job of portraying these heroes in a way that reflects their individual styles. For example, the alienated superhero illustrations depict Batman alone in his dark cave. Though Batman does have Alfred, he typically separates himself from people, in order to protect them. This same series includes a portrait of Superman staring down at Earth from space. This reflects the way in which he is literally an alien from another planet, separated in strength from everyone else on Earth.
