In Tribute to Dirty Dancing's Patrick Swayze
Katie Cordrey — September 15, 2009 — Pop Culture
Twitterers had it wrong with their Patrick Swayze Death Tweet in May, but today’s reports are real. Swayze, the hunky son of a dance choreographer died today of pancreatic cancer. He was 57 years old.
Swayze was named “The Sexiest Man Alive” by People Magazine in 1991, just a year after he received a Saturn Award nomination as ‘Best Male Actor’ for his role in ‘Ghost.’
Patrick Swayze may be best remembered for his role in the film Dirty Dancing, but he remained active in both movies and television with recent roles in ‘Powder Blue’ and ‘The Beast.’ When asked how he kept a positive attitude with the almost certain death sentence that pancreatic cancer brings, he replied, “You go to work.”
In Patrick Swayze’s honor, we’ve gathered a number of dance-related and dance-inspired postings for you to enjoy.
