From Adorable Pet Patios to Euthanized Dog Photography

When you think 2014 pet trends, the first thing that comes to mind is the incredibly creative application of technology to aid human-pet interaction. Perhaps the single largest trend this year past is the introduction of a wide variety of devices that help people interact with their pets from work or while traveling. Similar to baby monitors, these pet monitors give you the ability to 'talk to' your pets, see them on camera and even give them treats.
2014 has also seen the continued evolution of pet fashion, with designers coming up with increasingly functional, cute or plain ridiculous outfits for pets. Both pet monitors and pet fashion tap into a larger trend in the humanization of pets.
Unsurprisingly, many pet trends of the year past are inspired by animal rights moments, and there have been a number of poignant photography series highlighting the plight of pet shelters around the world.
