This series of accessorized dog photography may be titled Watchdogs, but something slightly more extravagant would be appropriate. It reinterprets the idea that dogs, especially the small ones, are becoming accessories in modern society. Owners are even dressing them up to match their outfits. To perpetuate this idea, these small pups have been dressed in opulent jewels to signal their status.
Shot by French photographer Sophie Gamand, the accessorized dog photography takes the concept a step further, however. Gamand writes, "Aren't these dogs becoming some sort of emotional ramparts against the world? Security blankets for women who are afraid to go into the world alone? They are like little soldiers, sidekicks, confidants, best friends." Hence the title, Watchdogs. Overall, the accessorized dog photography series is a comment on today's society.
