Swiss supermarket chain Migros teamed up with Circular Food Solutions to launch a range of upcycled meat alternative products made from spent brewer's grains. These alt meat products give new life to a by-product of the barley used in beer production that's incredibly nutrient-rich. This upcycled ingredient is paired with Swiss-grown peas and wheat to form plant-based burgers, mince and marinated pieces with Circular Food Solutions’ technology. The resulting alt meat products are said to have a unique fiber texture, taste and elasticity.
The upcycled alt meats are being introduced to consumers via Migros' V-Love brand, which already includes tofu, cookies, plant-powered steaks and chocolates. These vegan-friendly protein sources are ready to be incorporated into everything from weeknight burgers and tacos to lunchtime wraps.
