Van Leeuwen's Piña Colada Ice Cream Celebrates Piña Colada Day

In celebration of the famed Piña Colada cocktail's 70th anniversary, Discover Puerto Rico, the Destination Marketing Organization for the Island, teamed up with Van Leeuwen Ice Cream to create an exclusive Piña Colada ice cream. Van Leeuwen's first-ever collaboration with a destination invites people in New York City to savor free scoops of an exclusive Piña Colada ice cream on National Piña Colada Day, shared by the Van Leeuwen Ice Cream Truck.

Back in 1954, Caribe Hilton's bartender Ramón "Monchito" Marrero was tasked with creating a signature drink and the first Piña Colada made with Don Q rum was born. The limited-edition Piña Colada ice cream flavor honors the vibrant taste of Puerto Rico with bold flavors and vibrant packaging designed by local artist Cristina Muñoz Laboy.
