California-based snack brand PeaTos has announced it will be transitioning into an entirely plant-based operation, a move that will include updated branding and a new "sassy" female mascot called DJ_P.
Although Peatos has been offering customers a healthy alternative to traditional supermarket chips for quite some time, the new move will see the brand go all-in on its plant-based roots. The company will replace all the corn or potato bases used for regular chips with nutrient-dense peas. As a result, each serving of Peatos delivers two times the amount of protein and three times the amount of fiber compared to a leading salty snack brand.
In addition, the Peatos updated branding aims to appeal to kids by reimagining healthy snacking as a fun and playful activity.
"Kids are the toughest customers, and our research tells us kids love the taste and crunch of PeaTos. We’ve effectively put an end to snack-time negotiation with plant-based snacks that taste just like the leading junk food snacks. Kids can’t tell the difference, and parents love them too," said Nick Desai, founder and CEO of PeaTos.
