Los Angeles design studio Ehrlich Yanai Rhee Chaney Architects introduces its new work found in Venice Beach with the new Navy House. It was recently finished in the summer and has a two-story primary unit with a two-bedroom unit connected on the ground floor. It is surrounded by apartment buildings and has a white stucco to allow it to stand out in contrast to the bricked neighborhood.
The team at the Ehrlich Yanai Rhee Chaney Architects speak about the new design, noting that "We wanted to create clean well-lit spaces from which one could experience the sensations of being near to the ocean breeze and the sound of waves and provide a peaceful respite from the urban context outside. Inspiration was also drawn from modest house precedents in Japan using simple materials and maximizing natural light and air in different ways."
