Zac Posen, GE Additive and Protolab teamed up to create stunning Met Gala gowns, dresses and accessories with 3D printing. Zac Posen and his team were inspired by the idea of freezing natural objects in motion and created a variety of showstopping ensembles for celebrities like Nina Dobrev and Katie Holmes. As part of the initiative, Jourdan Dunn sported an intricate bespoke rose gown made with a total of 21 unique petals and Deepika Padukone donned a custom metallic pink lurex jacquard gown with sewn-on embroidery pieces.
The 2019 Met Gala theme kicked off the opening of the Costume Institute’s annual fashion exhibition, with this year's theme being 'Camp: Notes on Fashion.' In keeping with the theme, these Met Gala gowns were designed to be extravagant and theatrical, using the capabilities of 3D printing technology to the fullest.
