Wanting to document red heads before they go extinct, Nurit Benchetrit took on a ginger portrait photo series in the The Beautiful Gingers Project.
This simple yet poignant project draws attention to the fact that people with ginger hair, commonly referred to as gingers, may be disappearing from out world.
Only 1% of the world’s population is ginger—and according to researchers, within 50 years the ginger population may be extinct—which makes them unique and intriguing, and this ginger portrait photo series shows us just that.
"Gingers recieve different attitudes from society due to their visual characteristics. I’m trying to investigate why gingers are so special and intriguing. In my project I photographed almost 150 ginger people of all ages. I’m trying to express the unique character and beauty of each of the subjects," says Benchetrit.
