This bizarre celebrity Photoshop project takes well-known actors and glues their faces onto the bodies in these vintage Chinese ads.
The vintage Chinese ads are from 1930s Shanghai and mostly feature women in elegant gowns lounging around flower gardens, playing lutes and fanning themselves. Somehow, it occurred to a graphic designer that Photoshopping modern male movie stars' faces onto the women's bodies in the Chinese ads would be a great art project -- and even more surprisingly, it works amazingly well. The celebrity Photoshop series incorporates the images of actors Tom Hiddleston, Benedict Cumberbatch and Chris Hemsworth.
Internet fan art sometimes takes creative and odd ideas to extremes, and these vintage Chinese ads are a perfect example. Companies can often harness this penchant for rampant creation and use it to their advantage, as in Lucasfilm's recent Star Wars: The Force Awakens fan art competition.
