Public Literary Installations

The Book Forest Brings a Sense of Community

An awe-inspiring public bookshelf has been installed in the streets of Berlin. ‘Book Forest’ is a set of trees that have hollowed out shelves for members of the community to swap stories. You’re allowed to pick up a used book and leave one if you’d like.

BauFachFrau has created this awesome public installation. Conveniently placed out front of a local café, you’ll be able to grab a hot tea and dive into a new story.

On BoingBoing they say, "It was developed and realized by BAUFACHFRAU Berlin e.v. as an interdisciplinary, project orientated cooperation of apprentices of forestry, carpentry, cabinetmaking, media design, printing and bookselling."

I'm sure people of all communities would be happy to see these in every city.
