Yummy House Turns to Animal Crossing to Recruit Employees
Hong Kong-based chain Yummy House takes an unconventional approach to its latest hiring process by turning its attention to Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Yummy House places a recruitment advertisement in the game looking for a "game specialist." They are searching for the special skill set that includes a strong level of creativity, artistic talent, and has played the game Animal Crossing for over 100 hours.
This idea came into fruition after the world shut down in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Yummy House's Senior Marketing Executive speaks about the recruitment process, stating, “we started planning this in April. Because of the pandemic in Hong Kong, lots of people can’t go out, lots of companies are collapsing, and lots of workers are being laid off or furloughed [...] We thought, since so many people don’t have much to do, why don’t we provide this opportunity while doing some soft selling?”
