Microsoft has announced a new security-focused update for its 'Windows 11 Pro' operating system. This update will bring the out-of-box experience (OOBE) of Windows 11 Pro more in-line with 'Windows 11 Home.' This means that, upon initial setup of the Pro version, users will be required to create a managed service account (MSA) and connect to the network in order to access the computer.
Previously, Windows 11 Pro users were able to disconnect from the internet and create a local account which allowed them to subvert several Windows features, such as 'OneDrive,' 'Device Protection,' and 'Ad Analytics.' Now, these features will need to be manually disabled after logging in with an MSA if the users do not desire the functionalities. Also included in this update is the sunsetting of support for WEP and WKIP connection types, as Windows 11 will now required WPA2 or WPA3-capable routers.
