The WeChat 'WeLive' shop is one of the newest unstaffed retail locations in China, introducing a new way for consumers to shop. The pop-up shop uses the WeChat app and QR codes to register new users.
Once inside, shoppers are able to browse by four clearly defined categories: clothes, food, living and transport. When it comes time to make a purchase, consumers are able to stand in a designated payment zone, where merchandise is automatically recognized.
