American automobile brand Jeep has announced that it will launch two new electric vehicle models -- the Jeep Wagoner S and the Jeep Recon -- in North America by 2025. One of the models is also set to be released in Europe.
Overall, the announcement of the two new EVs is representative of Jeep's broader initiative to electrify its lineup of vehicles as it aims to become the global leader in all-electric SUVs. According to a recent statement by the company, Jeep plans for its EV models to make up 50 percent of sales in North America by 2030. The new electric motors powering these vehicles have been made in collaboration with Stellantis.
“Stellantis gives us that scale to capitalize on the resources for engineering, design, software, and all the horsepower that we need to accelerate the electrification and keep the Jeep DNA intact,” said Jeep CEO Christian Meunier.
