While the KFC's Double Down sandwich is already an impressive culinary feat, now the fast food chicken chain is upping the ante with its new Waffle Double Down. Available only in Canada, the new sandwich is an outrageous take on the beloved combination of fried chicken and waffles.
Just like the original Double Down, the new Waffle Double Down swaps sandwich bread for two crispy pieces of fried chicken. However, instead of bacon and cheese, the new take on the sandwich features a fluffy Belgian waffle and a hint of maple aioli sauce in the middle. The result is a sweet and salty sandwich that is not for the faint of heart and certainly not for vegetarians.
Though this is not the first time the chain has experimented with its fried chicken sandwich, the new version is the first to feature a waffle in the center.
