These vibrant rainbow-colored porch pavilions are set up as interactive art installation for a VIVA Vancouver artistic competition.
Stewart Hicks and Allison Newmeyer are architects and designers from 'Design With.' They created this vibrant and playful display titled Porch Parade. The interactive art lines Robson Street in the busy downtown of Vancouver. It creates a visually appealing art display while providing a convenient place to sit and rest or hang out with friends and family. Each porch pavilion is equipped with comfy chairs and sturdy railings.
The installation for VIVA Vancouver has the exact same functions as traditional porches -- this one is just brighter and very public. The 800-block installation will remain as a 24-hour art and interactive display for the entire Canadian summer season.
