Even though the 2020 Tokyo Olympics have been postponed until next year, sports lovers can look forward to a new five-day virtual Olympics festival from Airbnb that captures the spirit of the Olympic and Paralympic Games. Airbnb is hosting the digital experience with the International Olympic Committee and the International Paralympic Committee and offering athletes-led activities and events.
The virtual event kicks off on July 24th—the date when Tokyo 2020 was supposed to begin—and it will provide insight into what it's like being an athlete in lockdown. Those who tune in can expect to see Japan’s tennis champion Naomi Osaka sharing her training regime during COVID-19 and paralympian Stephen Miller discussing the power of positive thinking. With the summer festival, all proceeds will be going towards the athletes involved in the events.
