With the Milan expo coming up for 2015, many countries are coming up with pavilions to represent the nation's history, as exemplified by Vilnius Architecture Studio and 'Growing Lithuania.'
The design focuses again on the theme of the expo, which is 'feeding the planet, energy for life.' Based on this motif, Vilnius Architecture Studio has come up with a design that also complements the past of Lithuania. The pavilion centers around Lithuania's agricultural past, and how from here the nation developed into a more high-tech force. This juxtaposition between the past and present can be seen through the plants located around the building, and the contemporary materials used for the facade of the pavilion. The structures themselves also resemble greenhouses in terms of shape and size.
