Local architecture studio Habitable Form creates the Victory Bat House using timber-clad forms to reduce any disturbance to oak trees. This way, it can combat the issues that come with storms along the Atlantic Seaboard. The building is on Kiawah Island by Charleston and it is nestled in the lush greenery next to the neighborhood park.
It is a retreat for a retired couple who were looking for a tranquil space to spend time with their family. The studio explains the thought process, stating "The design concept quickly became about nestling under the protection of the shaded oaks and connecting outward toward the surrounding neighborhood park." It drew inspiration from the vernacular buildings in the Lowcountry due to the diverse architectural styles.
