'Let’s Read!' is a new campaign that seeks to make ebooks accessible to unprivileged students in Cambodia. Between 1975 and 1979, Cambodia was ravaged by the Khmer Rouge regime. During this period, many of the country's schools and public libraries were destroyed.
In the present day, Cambodia remains plagued by illiteracy and a fragile education system. In order to help underprivileged students get the quality education they need, Let’s Read! provides access to digital libraries. The digital library platform provides an easy way for students to access ebooks and other educational materials. These books are available Khmer as well as English in order to promote bilingualism.
The pilot program is set to launch in five schools and two mobile libraries. In order to expand the project further, Let’s Read! is also running a crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo.
