The ULMA catalog now includes a flow pack packaging machine for portions of cheese in MAP for direct sale to consumers that incorporates side sealing and shrink wrapping film (BDF). According to the company, with this new design based on the ARTIC side seal machine, the packs will be more airtight and visually pleasing, and they'll be easier to open and have more space for labeling.
Instead of lengthwise and crosswise seals, the machine substitutes seals in the same spot as the cheese rind. In the absence of lengthwise and crosswise seals, the product is no longer susceptible to leaks in that area. Additionally, the entire packaging process uses a thin 21 micron shrink wrap film to optimize the packaging's wrapping material.
