Uber Eats Canada is Making it Easier to Support Black-Owned Businesses
Grace Mahas — June 9, 2020 — Social Good
In an effort to support black-owned restaurants in light of the recent anti-racist movement, Uber Eats Canada debuted a new feature to help Canadians identify and purchase from Black-own restaurants in their area. Not only does the app identify these black-owned businesses, but it is also offering free delivery. In addition to this initiative, the company also announced that it had made a $1 million donation to the Equal Justice Initiative and the Center For Policing Equity.
"We know this isn't enough. It won't be until we see true racial justice," Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi wrote in the email, "but we plan to work day in and day out to improve, learn, and grow as a company. Lastly, let me speak clearly and unequivocally: Black Lives Matter."
