Ty Lettau Renders Star Wars Characters in Mega Man-Like Style

Ty Lettau is the king of making game-inspired illustrations using a minimalist 8-bit style that’s evocative of pixel art found on the Nintendo Entertainment System. In his latest series, he’s morphed the cast of all Star Wars films into stumpy caricatures that would fit right into a Mega Man game. In fact, Lettau actually used the sprites for the Blue Bomber and modified them until they looked like Han Solo, Princess Leia, Luke Skywalker and a bunch of other sci-fi characters while retaining the retro game's classic aesthetics. He aptly titles the collection ‘Mega Star Wars.’
For characters that Ty Lettau couldn’t simply paint over, he made them from scratch. R2-D2 and the Ewoks are noteworthy for their diminutive size, but the best original rendering goes to Jar Jar Binks, who looks just as ridiculous as his onscreen counterpart.
