Travel for Change is a nonprofit organization helping communities in developing nations to build and operate locally owned cooperatives that serve as community-based ecotourism destinations.
Travel for Change aims to support developing communities through the establishment of ownership and profit at a local level, while also encouraging sustainable development. Additionally, Travel for Change trips offer travelers an opportunity to experience the true culture of the region they are visiting.
Profits from the cooperative initiatives are invested in development projects and microbusinesses in the community and surrounding area.
Travel for Change is currently working on its first project, Lukelo Lodge, located in the Southern Highlands of Tanzania, Africa. Recently completed, the Lodge will hold up to 30 travelers at a time, offering considerable tourism opportunities for the community.
