Firefox launched a new feature that will automatically be available to all users named 'Total Cookie Protection.' This feature protects the data of the web user by restricting third-party access to the user's cookies. For example, a malicious website would not be able to extract previous browsing data from the cookies of a user, as Firefox will now automatically block this access.
Firefox stated that this process works by assigning cookie jars to each website. Essentially, instead of having a single cookie library that spans the entire internet, cookies will be stored based on the URL that initially deposited the cookie. This ensures that data is protected at the user's discretion.
With this new functionality, Firefox is continuing its commitment to user privacy and digital protection for users of its platform.
