DuckDuckGo has unveiled its web browser for Mac users in the platform’s first open beta test, highlighting the application’s privacy-focused features. The desktop browser implements protective features such as defense against third-party tracking, cookie pop-up protection, and a data clearing ‘Fire Button.’ The browser has also added a new ‘Duck Player’ which protects users from targeted ads and cookies while watching YouTube, a feature that DuckDuckGo claims eliminates the majority of YouTube ads as a result.
Another solution is DuckDuckGo's 'Cookie Consent Pop-Up Manager,' which works on roughly 50% of sites and automatically selects the most private setting in order to spare users from repetitive pop-up notifications. Users may also benefit from the desktop version of DuckDuckGo 'Email Protection,' which blocks email trackers and offers inbox protection.
Currently, a Windows version of the web browser is still in development.
