Skateboarding legend Tony Hawk revealed on his Twitter account a few hours ago that he was rolling out personalized and dream experiences on a satellite site, Tony Hawk Experience, to benefit the Tony Hawk Foundation.
Well-heeled donors can pay between four to six figures for a Tony Hawk Experience, which ranges from a personal phone call (including changing your voicemail message, if you desire) to a full-blown San Diego Family Day that includes a trip to LEGOLAND, lunch, dinner, and even a cruise in Hawk's '64 Stingray. Proceeds benefit the Tony Hawk Foundation, which supports recreational programs and helps build skate parks in low-income communities.
Unfortunately, some individuals in the Twittersphere saw the price tag associated with each of the well-intentioned experiences listed on the Tony Hawk Experience and accused the pro skateboarder of cashing in on his celebrity. Hawk quickly responded, "The idea isn't about cashing in, it's to raise significant funds to build public skateparks in low-income areas."
Regardless of the criticism, we think it's a fantastic idea. Check out the Tony Hawk Experience website below to see some of the packages, and watch the video above to see what the Tony Hawk Foundation is all about.
