TikTok Launched a Safety Campaign for Users in an Effort to Prevent Harm

TikTok is a popular video-sharing platform that recently released a series of videos encouraging its users to stay safe on the platform. The short video series teaches users how to use do a number of privacy-enhancing settings including filtering spam, offensive comments, and select keywords.

It uses real-world situations as a metaphor to what can happen on the video-sharing platform -- for example, a girl at a party bothering someone else is shielded by a protective barrier that's enacted. This showcases that users can block profiles that are bothering them. The TikTok safety series also shows users how they can report inappropriate content or behavior in order to have a safe online experience.

“Safety is our number one priority,” stressed Elizabeth Kanter, director of global public policy at TikTok UK. “This new campaign, featuring some of our most loved creators from a variety of backgrounds and genres, demonstrates our commitment to originality, as we educate, empower and encourage our global community to stay safe and positive."
