The Threshold and Treasure art gallery is located in Arzignano, Italy. The institution occupies a 19th-century masonry and timber warehouse that has been used as a print house in the past. The project was headed by the architecture studio AMAA.
The tactile feeling of materials was a driving force for the aesthetic of the newly opened Threshold and Treasure art gallery. AMAA embraced the unfinished interiors of the older building, creating "tactile backdrops" that are eye-catching. The design studio then added various extensions made from concrete, glass, and steel—each strategically placed to create an interesting juxtaposition of materials and style sensibilities.
The design begins with "a large, concave concrete gateway that doubles as a seating area" and leads into a modest garden space with "a 20th-century concrete addition to the print house, which now serves as a guesthouse for artists in residence."
