Transform any concert into a magical art display with The Principals 'Hammertone.' Currently being used for the MoMA PS 1's Summer Warm Up outdoor music series, the Hammertone was created by the Brooklyn-based design studio The Principals. The technique to make this colorful interactive environment was a blend between traditional craftsmanship and incorporating new technologies.
According to The Principals site the Hammertone is made from, "woven LED strips and paper squares, networked through a series of sensors which read the aural vibrations created by the artists - responding through light, shadow and geometry." Turning on at dusk, the Hammerton will accompany the performances of musicians such as Lemonade, Pearson Sound and Jamie XX opening the imagination of viewers.
Held in the MoMA PS1's courtyard, The Principals Hammertone will collaborating with artists every Saturday until September 8th.
