Palestinian architects AAU Anastas works with Japanese sound artist Tomoko Sauvage to create the Serpentine Bell sculpture. It is defined by hollow glass blocks that join in a unique way that a self-supportive stone arch does. The artwork is made from glass and it was commissioned by Champagne house Reuinart. It is nestled in the company's headquarters in Reims right in its garden.
AAU Anastas shares, "Tomoko's work with water, bubbles, sound and bowls speaks about an environment that is ephemeral, immaculate, subtle and practically elusive. Stone construction could be associated with permanence and heaviness. Yet, the point where both our practices meet is probably the delicacy of working with materials. Whether sonic material, stone or glass, the installation speaks about the knowhows, the history of techniques from very different places, backgrounds and contexts to form a global solidarity network of knowledge."
