People were able to explore strange new planets at this year's SXSW Interactive thanks to a stunning installation called Stream Me Up. It allowed people to create a virtual self that were then transported onto alien worlds. Essentially, it it is a virtual reality that was constructed with the help of four Kinects, calibrated Canon 5D Mark III cameras and a VR headset.
Created by Something Savage studio, the Stream Me Up installation is made up of three alien environments specifically. Each environment has local lifeforms that participants are able to interact with as well. To make the experience richer, people are guided by team members to ensure that they are exposed to everything they can be.
